I also think the word "brand" is totally cool to use. Though to get to a similar answer without using the "B" word I sometimes use phrases like "what makes the film unique", "what does the film stand for" "what do you as a filmmaker stand for" "what do you want to be known for" "what house would you be, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor..."
This is a comprehensive, piece by piece breakdown of the distribution process - I want to write it out on a big scroll of butcher’s paper and tape it to my office wall. Road map!
Thanks Linda - I should have used the Road Map metaphor - but Brian Newman just wrote about Maps - but in the future I might talk about my love of road trips! and the planning that goes into them - but then allowing time for sponteneity and changing course as you go as seems necessary!
